Outreach Coordinator
Position Summary
YRDFA seeks a creative and skilled individual to join YRDFA's team to provide support for Yukon River salmon
fishery programs that engage Yukon River residents in fisheries management and decision-making processes. The Outreach
Coordinator is responsible for managing seasonal harvest data collection projects and assisting with programs that involve
people from the Yukon River in fisheries management, monitoring and assessment. Additional duties include oversight of
membership program, board elections, and travel logistics for attendance at fisheries meetings. A college degree is
preferred, but working experience may qualify in lieu of education. The ideal candidate has at least three years of
experience conducting outreach, managing programs and budgets, and grant writing and reporting in a non-profit setting.
Salary is dependent on experience. YRDFA provides excellent benefits including paid holidays; vacation and sick leave;

Key Responsibilities
- Manage grants, budgets and activities for current projects that recruit and hire Yukon River residents to work on fisheries monitoring and assessment projects;
- Assist YRDFA Anthropologist with traditional ecological knowledge programs;
- Oversee and expand YRDFA membership program and related databases;
- Run YRDFA elections for board of directors members;
- Provide travel support for YRDFA board members and Yukon River residents attending fisheries meetings;
- Develop outreach messages, engage people in YRDFA's work and build partnerships with other Yukon River groups;
- Initiate outreach programs for youth living in or from the Yukon River region,
- Write newsletter articles and grant reports;
- Actively utilize social media to increase the public's awareness of YRDFA's work;
- With Executive Director, write grant proposals to renew funding for projects that recruit and hire Yukon River residents to participate in fisheries related projects;
- Within project areas, develop new projects and work with ED to seek funding;
- Represent YRDFA at fisheries meetings in Anchorage and Yukon River communities as needed, travel throughout Alaska;
- Assist with mailings, meeting materials and meeting minutes;
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- College degree preferred, at least three years work experience conducting outreach, managing programs and budgets, and grant writing and reporting in a non-profit setting required;
- Experience with non-profits, federal and private grants, and membership programs;
- Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects with numerous components;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Experience working in rural Alaska with Alaska Natives;
- Creative, outgoing person who is driven to make positive change;
- Experience and interest in social marketing a plus.
